With the economic
activity influenced by industrialisation, the Government
realised that human resources in the industrial sector are
the major driving factor for the country’s social and
economic growth. Hence, the Government began
planning a strategy to develop human resources to
support the country’s socio-economic activities. Thus
this article aims to examine and highlight Malaysia’s
HRD plans, policies and strategies in her move to
develop human resources to sustain economic growth
and compete in the global market. The country’s
development plans and policies as well as the economic
development which lead towards the country’s plans for
a knowledge-based economy with knowledge-based
workforce were studied and reported.
