The division has a documented and implemented program for eye protection devices which are specifically designed for protection against the Class of lasers in use. The program shall assess and is not limited to:
a) Classes of lasers in use,
b) Anticipated scattered, diffused or direct exposure,
c) Damage threshold of the protective filter (e.g. 10 seconds),
d) Ensure the eye wear is used in a manner so that the damage threshold is not exceeded, in the worst case scenario,
e) Flammability factor,
f) Ultra short Pulse duration (e.g. femtosecond) effects on filters (e.g. saturable absorption),
g) Laser or laser system's ability to injure personnel;
h) The environment in which the laser is used,
i) The personnel who may use or be exposed to the beam.
