Warwick Volunteers undertakes to ensure that all volunteers who work with children receive the appropriate training, advice and support necessary to recognise and act upon any child protection issues that may arise whist working on a voluntary placement.
The purpose of this policy is to detail the procedures necessary to facilitate the recognition of child protection issues and to see that all enquiries are dealt with promptly and effectively. The safety of the child and other volunteers is vitally important to Warwick Volunteers. WV will address child protection in the following ways:
a) All volunteers working with children and vulnerable groups will be police-checked, and will not be allowed to commence any volunteering placement until this is complete.
b) WV will uphold the Child Protection Policy at all times and ensure that all volunteers abide by it whilst on their placement.
This policy has been written as a set of guidelines applying to all WV Staff, Volunteers and Link Organisations or Clients. However, this policy does not replace the need for child protection training for all individuals involved in working with children. Volunteers are advised to also read the Volunteering Policy.
The WV Child Protection Policy will be reviewed annually.
