When a SRS is no longer in use and no further use is foreseen it should be considered
and dealt with as a spent radioactive source. In addition, a source may be taken out of service temporarily or indefinitely. The source in this case is out of use (“disused”) but not considered spent. Such radioactive sources represent special risks and could create situations prone to accidents. Sources that are not in active use and have not being declared as spent are considered as disused SRS.
