AGGLOMERATION
The agglomeration modifies the physically properties of powdery products and thus enhances their application qualities. With fluidized bed agglomeration, low-dust, pourable products and stable solid compounds were generated, which are easier to handle than powdery components. Also, for many substances, an enhanced solubility only can be achieved through increasing the particle porosity via agglomeration resp. instantisation. Products, built up through agglomeration, secure a well material flow and reduce the dust exposure to the environment.
HOW IS AGGLOMERATION RUNNING?
Within the plant, a powdery primary product is fluidized, thus whirled with air. Via spray nozzles, the fluidized particles were moistened with a liquid. The fluidized bed offers the ideal precondition to set the particles into a state, where they are allover accessible for the spray. After spray on, the particles stick to agglomerates, due to their surface humidity and, when indicated, included binder in the liquid. This way, e.g. dust can be bonded or products can become easier to dissolve. Also the back mixing of powder components can be reduced. Besides water, as spray dissolution also vitamins, fat or lecithin can be sprayed on and thereby achieve an additional benefit.
As at spray granulation, at agglomeration an endless variety of mutable parameters give an almost endless potential for defining of the particle properties: porosity, particle size distribution, bulk density, dust content and dissolubility, via fluidized bed agglomeration can also be exactly adjusted according to the set target. Cause every substance requires different process conditions, with pilot test as we conduct in our Technical Center, we can check the optimal parameters previously.
