With two remaining possibilities, I prompt a discussion by asking, “what will happen if I turn the solid on its side?” I ask students to predict an answer for both a cone and a cylinder. Rotating the object onto its lateral face allows students to discover the answer. Similar discussion follows the presentation of each solid.
