Effect of long-term EGCG treatment on plasma cholesterol,
inflammatory markers, and fecal lipids. HF mice had
significantly higher plasma cholesterol and MCP-1 concentrations
than LF mice in Expt. 2 (Table 2). EGCG treatment
attenuated the elevation in cholesterol (by 24%) and MCP-1 (by
69%) in HF mice (Table 2; P , 0.05). Plasma tumor necrosis
factor-a and IL-6 were not detectable in mice (using ELISA
methods) from any of the treatments (data not shown).
