Alternatively, it is possible that the results suggest that the ASI social concerns subscale may not be related to the social interaction component of social anxiety. It could be proposed that the ASI social concerns scale may be related to other components of social anxiety which were not measured in the present study (e.g. fear others will notice anxiety symptoms, fear of being observed by others, performance anxiety). One could hypothesize that the anxiety sensitivity fear of publically observable symptoms may only be predictive of certain components of social anxiety, which would emphasize the importance of examining these disorders in terms of their cluster of symptoms. Examining the relationship between components of social anxiety and the lower order factors of AS may yield more consistent results.
