In the OVX group the maximal load in the femoral diaphysis was
lower by 10.7% (p < 0.05), than in the C group. After treatment with estradiol, glabridin and
glycyrrhizic acid there were no change in this parameter in comparison to the OVX rats. The fracture load of
the femoral diaphysis in the OVX group was lower by 14.5%
(p < 0.05) than in the non-ovariectomized C group. Administration of estradiol, glabridin or
glycyrrhizic acid to the ovariectomized animals effected in no significant effect on this parameter,
when compared to the OVX group. In the ovariectomized group of rats, the displacement for maximal
load and the displacement for fracture load were higher by 11.9% (p < 0.05) and 25.4% (p < 0.05)
respectively, than in the C group. Treatment with estradiol resulted in a decrease of the
displacement for maximal load by 7.6% and a decrease of the displacement for fracture load by 9.5%,
when compared to the OVX group. Glabridin and glycyrrhizic acid did not affect these parameters in
comparison with the OVX rats. In the OVX rats, the Young’s modulus was decreased by 15.1% in
comparison with the C group. In the ES, GL and GA groups, the increase of Young’s modulus by 6.8%,
21.4% and 25.3% respectively was observed in comparison with the OVX group (Table 3).
