The plant material used here was chosen after screening for antifungal activity conducted on several wild and cultivated pepper genotypes (Pane et al., 2015). Leaves of a wild C. annuum accession nr. CGN 21526 (provided by Centre for Genetic Resources, WageningenUniversity e NL), cultivated in open field at the Research Centre's experimental farm of Battipaglia (SA), were harvested, dried at 70 _C and ground.
