Acknowledged the presentations on various Members’ initiatives.
• The EU provided an update on the EU-China Pilot Project – Smart and Secure
Trade Lanes (SSTL) in terms of extending it to new ports and trade lanes as
well as to air and rail modes besides the maritime one.
• The Secretariat provided a brief overview on the Southern African Customs
Union (SACU)’s regional Preferred Trader Accreditation and Mutual
Recognition programme that is being carried out under a WCO Capacity
Building Project funded by Sweden. This was followed by a presentation by
Namibia providing details on the ongoing pilot process including audit
verification, legal framework, lessons learned and future road map.
• Uruguay presented on the Brazil-Uruguay Supply Chain project, including its
background and future way forward.
• Brazil provided information on their pilot AEO programme starting in
December 2014 at the Viracopos International Airport, including its action plan
and expected benefits.
