Among the capacities required by a properly functioning logistics provider, particular attention should be paid to the potential to develop a high degree of trust in the client. Indeed, a company that decides to outsource a logistics activity is seeking a 3PLs that offers the same as could be offered by the company's own resources, in other words, the manufacturer wants a partner that is an extension of itself. However, Spanish 3PLs providers are prepared to take greater responsibility over the logistics chain of their customers, despite the reticence of the latter when it comes to the strategic outsourcing of their logistical activities. Therefore, a second recommendation of this paper is that the managers of 3PL providers in Spain need to continue working to gain the trust of their clients.
