At the 100th Olympic Game, the city of Ephesus wanted to have a champion, so they bribed the winner of the long race, Sotades. Sotades was from the island of Crete, but people from Ephesus paid him to say that he was from their city. When the people of Crete heard about this, Sotades was exiled - he was never allowed to go back to his from island.
