The DCM fraction was further purified because it showed high
antioxidant and anticoagulant activity. For column chromatography,
the DCM fraction (100 mg/mL) was placed on the
column. The column was prepared by mixing 100 g of silica
(60–200 lm mesh size) and chloroform, and the mixture was
stirred until it became less viscous. The reaction was exothermic
in nature, with the initially thick mixture loosening up
after stirring, producing a slurry.
