The final mesh consisted of 23,019 domain elements, 7221 boundary elements, and 1012 edge elements. In the case of three dimensional gel based model food system (Fig. 3B), distance between proximate nodes of tetrahedral elements was optimized and set in the range of 0.419 mm to 3.35 mm, depending on the complexity of geometry. The final mesh consisted of 13,856 domain elements, 1408 boundary elements, and 108 edge elements. The appropriate governing equations were solved for these finite elements at their nodes.
