in methanol at room temperature and the unsaponifiable
fraction was extracted with diethyl ether. The solvent was evaporated
under nitrogen and the residue was silylated by BSTFA with 1% TMCS
and then analyzed by capillary gas chromatography. A Hewlett-
Packard 6890 gas chromatograph in the split (1:25) mode, with a FID
detector and capillary column DB-5 (30 m × 0.25 mm × 0.25 μm, J &
W Scientific Inc., Folsom, CA, USA) was used. Analysis parameters
were as follows: oven temperature, 290 °C; injector, 310 °C; and the
carrier gas was ultra-high-purity helium at 1.6 mL/min. 5α-cholestane
was used as an internal standard.
