Conversely, enzymatic
methods—as their name implies—rely on a cascade of enzymatic reactions.
Hydrogen peroxide ammonium is the end product for some of
these systems, ultimately reactingwith dye for photometric determination
of the concentration of creatinine [23]. Recent studies stress that
this method is highly accurate and is less subject to interference than
the Jaffe reaction [10,11,15]. However, it is also considerably more
expensive—about 10 times the price of Jaffe methods, which limits its
wider implementation, especially in developing countries.
