The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) yesterday condemned Thursday's killing of four people in Pattani and demanded the government bring the killers to justice.
Four people, including a monk and a 12-year-old boy were killed in the drive-by shooting in Pattani's Mae Lan district.
The attack took place while Buddhist monks were making their early morning alms round in the village of Ban Mai.
In a statement yesterday the NHRC branded the killings "cruel and inhumane" and condemned the use of violence against innocent people.
The commission called on the caretaker government, the Forward Command of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc), the Royal Thai Police Office and security agencies to bring those responsible for the attack to justice and provide the public with regular updates on the progress of their investigation.
