Introduction
A man with dark hair and blue eyes was standing looking at his home. He was enjoying the view of the lush green landscape, the smell and warmth of the summer breeze. He watched his servants work on the vineyards as the sun rose up from the grassy hills. He looked to the left to see the town of Conoscenza, This man was Grand Lord Dante of Conoscenza, the founder and first Imperator of the Illuminati Order. Dante was born in Conoscenza. His father, Antino Da Vernio founded the town in 1279. It was somewhat an independent town from the local government. It had a school for children and adults alike, a medium sized library filled with various books bought or donated by the citizens. The town had a population of around 1,500 people, most whom were intellectuals like Dante and his father. Even the servants were intellectuals and they lived in their very own villas in Conoscenza. What made Conoscenza extraordinary was the secrecy of its people, there was no church in the town and when outsiders ventured through they had no place to pray and worship their gods. Most of the time outsiders would overlook it and carry on with their journey, rarely some of them actually questioned it to either Dante or his father. The reason Conoscenza didn’t have a church was because no one in Conoscenza was religious, most of them were either, atheists, agnostics or even in some rare cases deists, but most of them did not believe in a deity. Over the years more intellectuals discovered the town and started anew. Conoscenza was a haven for intellectuals. There was a public forum where the Conoscenzians had public debates, philosophical conversations, or just an idea that they wanted to express. After a debate or conversation at the forum, they would have a meal together as a sign of understanding and friendship. The forum had enough room for an audience of fifty people, it had a podium for announcements and seating for debaters when a debate was lengthy. Outside the forum there was a tavern and two small gardens for relaxation and leisure. Dante’s father, Antino Da Vernio, founded Conoscenza on a large plot of land which was located south-east of his hometown of Vernio. The land wasn’t claimed or owned by any king or government making it independent from any powers. After discovering this Antino travelled back to Vernio and gathered his friends and family to this unclaimed land and began to build a town with the idea that it was a haven for intellectuals. His friends and family were all intellectuals and they soon brought their likeminded friends and their families too. By the time Dante was only five years old, Conoscenza had a population of two hundred and thirty people. Antino also had help from a noble lord from France who was secretly agnostic, Lord Renard Michelon. Renard sold his land and manor in France to settle in Conoscenza after he learned of its existence and visited it out of curiosity to see if it wasn’t a ruse to find and capture ‘Infidels’. Renard had brought his servants to the town. They lived in their own villas and two of them in Renard’s manor. His servants also helped him work on projects for the town, these projects included building a public school, a library and a tavern. Eventually some outsiders wanted to live in Conoscenza, but because they weren’t intellectuals or were religious, excuses such as, lack of money or no room to expand were made and it managed to get rid of them. Antino was proud of the town he built and everyone respected him and loved him as a brother or even as a father. Despite all of this, the town was unknown to most people.
However this town is where it began, this is where it all started.
War.
A war that has raged for centuries. A war that has consumed so many lives and spawned various ideologies and sparked the rise of understanding of the unknown. A war for the very survival of humanity and its very place within the universe.
The fight for God and the fight for mankind.
This is the beginning.
