The data inTable 1 showthat 11.67% less electricitywas consumed
during 9 months of storage in the silos that were equipped with the
complementaryeolic exhauster systemcompared to the siloswithout
this device, demonstrating that this management technique was
effective in exhausting the hot air from the silos, which reduced the
number of hours spent aerating the grain mass during 9 months of
storage. Moreover, considering that the aeration system was automatically
activated when the temperature of the bulk reached 5 C
above the outside ambient temperature, it is clear that the bulk
temperature was well-controlled in silos equipped with exhausters,
since the lower energy consumption is an indicative of temperature
maintenance.
