I live in the southern US and summer is coming and its starting to get pretty hot during the day 30 - 40 C and in a month or so we will start having evening thunderstorms that are driven by the heat and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. The winters here are generally pretty mild with little snow and seldom below 0 C for many days in a row. The people are generally friendly and easy going and the region is known to be politically very conservative and has a pronounced Christian majority that at times can seem intolerant of other religions.
