Residence time distribution (RTD) data (Fig. 5) indicates that reactor behaves in a non-ideal. Sharp peaks are observed at the 180 s for high (0.25 ml s−1) as well as low flow rate (0.15 ml s−1). After 180 s, the RTD features resemble entirely with mixed profiles or the decrease in the tracer concentration follows an exponential decay function. Bypass (channeling) of reacting materials is observed due to long peak as well as there is small possibility of dead zone in the reactor. The presence of coated plate inside the reactor may lead to bypass of the reactant. Thus, the mean residence time of the reactor is found to be 145 s while space time (_) of the reactor ranges from 20 to 100 min.
