In this work, we report a procedure to prepare porous magnetic manganese oxide nanostructures. The porous magnetic functionalized structure is obtained by mixing OA-protected magnetic particles and potassium permanganate at room temperature, and the as-synthesized nanostructures can be magnetically separated. Last but not least, the as-synthesized nanostructures which remove organic dyes from wastewater efficiently can be recycled by catalytic combustion at a relatively low temperature. The synthesis method can be extended to other MnOx structures with composition of different
nanocrystals, such as quantum dots, noble metal crystals which may have important applications as catalysts, adsorbents,
electrodes and advanced materials in many scientific disciplines
