When axillary nerve involvement is present, rafdial nerve
involvement must be considered because the radial nerve
also arises from the posterior cord. Careful evaluation
includes testing of radial motor and sensory components,
including extension at the wrist and sensation on the dorsal
and radial side of the hand. Axillary nerve involvement has a
worse prognosis than other nerve injuries associated with
shoulder dislocations. Isolated axillary nerve lesions have
the poorest prognosis for spontaneous recovery
