Data Analysis
All participants completed at least 1
trial for each condition and, if endurance
permitted, 2 consecutive trials of
the same condition. Data from either
the single trial or the average of the 2
trials were used to analyze each transfer
condition. Although other methods
have been used to define the movement
cycle (MC),34 left PSIS marker
data were used to define the duration
of the MC. Onset, or zero percent of
the movement cycle (0% MC), was
defined as the frame at which the left
PSIS marker’s location increased vertically
(z-direction) 3 standard deviations
from the average of the first 100
frames before motion initiation. Cessation
(100% MC) was defined as the
frame at which the marker reached
the maximum most anterior
(x-direction) position. The time
required to complete the transfer was
calculated as the duration from onset
to cessation averaged across trials and
participants for each condition.
