LSG Sky Chefs continues to hold the leading position in airline catering and related services. In airline catering the company has a global market share of 27 percent. This leading position is partly based on a history that spans more than 70 years. It is also due to possessing the largest existing airline catering network, comprising operations at 209 airports in 52 countries, and growing. Major historical milestones include the acquisition of Sky Chefs, which already had a significant presence in North and Latin America, by LSG in 2001. After an expansion focusing on Nordic and Eastern Europe in the late ‘90s, the first decade of this century was marked by important acquisitions and partnerships in China, Korea and Africa. Today this trend continues by adding locations in promising emerging markets around the globe. LSG Sky Chefs will proceed with its ambitious business strategy to achieve profitable growth while improving its cost competitive ness. In order to generate additional customer value and conse quently, revenues, the company will further pursue its expansion efforts in promising markets. Increments in the airline product and services portfolio, offering more innovative inflight equipment as well as comprehensive logistics services, will also increase our top line. Efforts to apply the company’s core culinary and logistics competencies in adjacent markets, such as train and education catering and supplying retail chains, will continue as well. With regard to cost management, a number of important excel lence initiatives have been launched in key business areas aimed at streamlining and standardizing processes in production and administration.
