You should have formed a long tube. Turn the tube inside out (Figure 5.4). You’ll find
that the seam is totally invisible from this side – the unworked loops from Row 12 create
a ridge that exactly matches the other ridges around the cactus!
Thread the long yarn end onto a yarn needle, and weave through all the loops around the
top opening of the cactus (Figure 5.5). Draw the yarn tight so that the top hole is pulled
closed (Figures 5.6 and 5.7). Insert the needle so that the yarn passes through the inside of
the cactus to the bottom, and through the bottom edge of one of the stitches at the bottom
of the cactus from inside to outside. Stuff the cactus through the hole, and lose the
starting tail of yarn inside the cactus, leaving the remainder of the long yarn end free.
