Phu Faek Forest Park is home to rolling hills and a lush deciduous dipterocarp forest. Large trees such as the Makha (Afzeliaxylocarpa), Taengwood Balau and Red Meranti fill the forest, and squirrels, tree shrews, civets and hares also call it home.
In November 1996, a family noticed strange footprints in the middle of a rock terrace at a ravine near Phu Faek foothill. They later informed geologists who came to survey the site. There, they discovered seven footprints belonging to carnivorous dinosaurs, believed to have been alive 140 million years ago. At present, only four footprints can be seen clearly
