Strip curtains tempt some vehicle drivers to drive through them aggressively. Try to dampen their enthusiasm by installing a large sign on each side of the door that says, “CAUTION: Drive through the door SLOWLY.” The plastic strips eventually stiffen. This keeps them from closing properly, and pieces break off. Expect to replace strips as they break or lose their transparency. Keep spare strips on hand to repair individual ones that become damaged. Keep the spares flat, in a dark,
cool location. The strips are easy to replace, but they are also easy to overlook. Include maintenance of strip curtains as part of the regular door maintenance program recommended by Measure 6.2.1.
