CM-Naringenin-Chalcone is a novel cosmetic active to treat skin prone to rosacea. It is a new single molecule derived from naringenin, a flavanone naturally occurring in the peel of citrus fruit. Skin prone to rosacea reacts to trigger factors such as changes in climate. Discomfort, inflammation or redness may be experienced. This is due to an overexpression of cathelicidin by keratinocytes which induces the release of inflammatory cytokines. If not treated, a chronic inflammation can develop inducing angiogenesis and an increased local blood flow. CM-Naringenin-Chalcone inhibits this inflammatory reaction in epidermal cells. Clinical studies clearly confirm that CM-Naringenin-Chalcone diminishes capillary blood flow and the appearance of facial redness.
