TAILSTOCK BEARING REPLACEMENT
NOTE:
THE TAILSTOCK SHOULD BE MOUNTED ON THE MACHINE IN IT'S
NORMAL RUNNING POSITION PRIOR TO REMOVAL OF OLD BEARING
AND INSTALLATION OF NEW BEARING.
1) Loosen 1 / 4-28 set screws in the collar and remove
squeeze lock from bearing.
2) Remove (4) 3/8-16 soc. head cap screws securing
bearing to tailstock.
3) Remove bearing from tailstock. (use (2) 9/16-12
tapped holes in bearing housing with jack screws
if necessary.)
4) Clean machined surface of tailstock thoroughly.
5) Grease end of spindle.
6) Install new bearing on tailstock using (4) 3/8-16
soc. head cap screws and (4) 3/8 heavy washers.
NOTE: IF ORIGINAL BEARING WAS INSTALLED WITH
3/8 LOCK WASHERS, REPLACE LOCK WASHERS
WITH 3/8 HEAVY WASHERS.
7) Grease bearing thoroughly.
8) ALWAYS run with safety cover in place.
