The new approach used in this study, based on the use of three
temperatures in the same HS-SPME procedure, was found to be
very effective for the extraction of compounds with different volatilities
present in honey samples. The three temperatures allowed
the extraction of a large amount of compounds. Due to the
complexity of honey samples this new analysis procedure is a useful
alternative to the conventional HS-SPME method. The method
employing two temperatures is also a good alternative for other
types of samples which are less complex. The choice of the
HS-SPME procedure was based on the complexity of the samples
studied.
