Presence and abundance of threats
Seven classified threats occurred in TWFC. There are tree cutting, hunting, non- timber forest products (NTFPs collection), encroachment, disturbance due to domestic ani- mals, unidentified camps, and unclassified threats.
All of them appeared both in core and corridor areas depending upon types of threats but number of occurrences and abundance in wet season seemed higher than in dry season.
In protected areas hunting and unidentified camps were higher than in corridor areas. This is correlated to higher abundance of wildlife in protected areas than corridor areas. Evi- dences of hunting and unidentified camps in MPWS and PCNP were higher than SINP because KNU has used MPWS as patrol routes between Thailand and Myanmar and PCNP is not legally declared as National Park. Therefore, systematic patrol is needed in protected areas. Further- more disturbance due to domestic animals, tree cutting, encroachment, and NTFPs collection occurred higher outside the protected areas because of weak enforcement and high human pressures. Disturbance due to domestic animals was significantly high in WNRF, RTA confronted with tree cutting and encroachment appeared highly both in WNRF and RTA. Moreover, all threats appeared in wet season higher than in dry season same as to presence of wildlife.
