New Singha deal for Buakaw
Singha Corporation has signed a three-year contract extension with Muay Thai star Buakaw Banchamek.
The new contract signed yesterday is a continuation of the deal which was first signed between the two sides in 2009.
Bhurit Bhirombhakdi, managing director of Boonrawd Trading Co Ltd, said supporting Buakaw was a means of promoting both Muay Thai and Thai culture because the fighter is now recognised around the world.
To underline Singha Corporation's commitment to a long-term development of the sport, Bhurit said the new contact will include support for Buakaw's Banchamek gyms as well.
"This time, it is for both him and his gyms. Our support will give a chance to young fighters to develop and follow Buakaw's footsteps."
"In the past, the contract was only for Buakaw," said Bhurit, a devoted Muay Thai fan.
The 34-year-old Buakaw, who has Muay Thai gyms in Bangkok and Surin, said with the increased support from Singha Corporation, it would be more convenient for the boxers to train and travel to fight in in different regions.
