Applied current density is one of the main operating parameters
directly affecting process performance and operating cost.
Therefore, as a beginning, a series of EC experiments was carried out on the Composite Sample I at a wide range of applied
current densities varying between 2.25 and 56.25mA/cm2 at
an initial pH 6.0 and a chloride concentration of 1480 mg/L
(the original composition of Composite Sample I) to assess the
effect of applied current density on process performance and
to determine the optimum current density in terms of removal
efficiencies as well as electrical energy requirements and sludge
production.
