secondary treatment of a large number of industrial
wastewater. Knowledge of the microbial kinetics
and determination of the kinetic coefficients for a
particular wastewater are, therefore, imperative for the
rational design of treatment facilities10.
The aim of the research presented in this work
was to evaluate the performance of a laboratory-scale
reactor to treat dairy wastewater and to determine the
kinetic coefficients for the dairy-industry wastewater.
The research was done under aerobic conditions and
the kinetic coefficients were estimated on the basis of
soluble biological oxygen demand (sBOD).
