The results of the study indicate that subtitles in the target language facilitate student
listening comprehension and give the students the opportunity to receive visual as well
as auditory messages. It seems that reading and listening to messages simultaneously
enhance learning of foreign language. Moreover, grounded upon the data collected
from the survey, most students mentioned that video subtitles in the target language did
help them associate the aural and written forms of words more easily and quickly than
did videos with Persian or without subtitles.
