Next, a pilot participatory training course was set up
to train workers to identify practical improvements for
their workplace. Participatory training tools, such as an
illustrated OSH checklist, and group work were used to
facilitate discussions among the participants and assist
them in identifying practical solutions.
Following the evaluation of the pilot training
phase, a larger-scale training course was organized
for representatives from the government, workers'
and employers' organizations and NGOs. These
representatives became the local OSH trainers and
trained workers through their individual networks. The
trained workers then independently identified ideas
to make positive changes and improve their working
conditions using locally available, low-cost materials.
