Q : Explain the importance of Menander in indogreek history ?
After invasion of Alexander, both India and Greece came into contact with each other. Although the relations between Indians and Greeks or Yavanas began to develop in the 5th or 6th century B.C., yet these relations became more close and intimate after Alexander's invasion. After the death of Alexander in 323 B.C. the process of disintegration of his empire began. A war of succession was fought among the generals of Alexander in order to divide his new acquired empire. Among all the generals, Seleukus was the bravest and the most courageous. He defeated his opponents like Antigonos, and others, and established a vast empire in the north-west Asia. The empire of Seleukus included the provinces of Balkh known as Bactria and modern Iran or Parthia.
