5. Greeting
Americans really love to greet each other even if one does not know each other. When you walk pass the stranger, it is ok to say hi or hello and you can expect to receive the greeting back with a smiley face. In Thailand, we usually do not talk to the stranger except for the rural area where people are really friendly. Moreover, American always ask like “How are you?” and even if you are really sick, you have to say “I’m fine…” cough cough…
8. Opportunity for disabilities
In US, everybody is equal. I really like the way they care about elders and disabilities. For instance, the bus really provide the seats that can be fold in order to suit for the wheelchair. It is mandatory for many public place that they have to provide the special restroom for these people. I really enjoy seeing these people hanging outside which I rarely see doing that in Thailand.
9. Seniority
In US, the value of seniority is so little. As people might believe that everyone is equal, this value has been neglected by many people. In contrast, Thai people value seniority including their relatives or coworkers. In general, if Thai people meet someone who is older, we have to bow those people with respect which I have never seen something like this in US.
