Magic Magic was shot by award-winning cinematographer Chris Doyle.
Directed by Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva, Magic Magic is an exciting new psychological thriller.
A shy young girl from the US named Alicia (Juno Temple) goes on a vacation to visit her cousin Sarah (Emily Browning) in Santiago, Chile. Sarah has planned a fun trip with Alicia and her new group of friends, Brink (Michael Cera), her boyfriend Augustíne (Agustín Silva) and his sister Barbara (Catalina Sandno Moreno).
They plan a road trip to Augustíne’s parents’ home in south Chile, when Sarah suddenly has to return to school, leaving Alicia alone in an unfamiliar place with people she doesn’t know. Sarah is scheduled to return in a couple of days and convinces Alicia to continue on the trip without her.
Although uncomfortable with the circumstances, Alicia continues on with the group as they travel across miles of isolated beauty, including a picturesque lake that separates them from the rest of the world.
Alicia desperately tries to settle into her unfamiliar surroundings but finds it difficult. Everybody else thinks her increasingly erratic behaviour is irrational and that she is simply being a spoiled brat. The language barrier, along with their lack of compassion, pushes her further into isolation and closer to the edge.
As time progresses, Alicia’s behaviour becomes more and more bizarre, to the point where the group is frightened for both their safety and hers.
See what happens when the frightening and suspenseful Magic Magic hits local cinemas on June 26.
