We surveyed students to gather data on their knowledge of careers and education before,
during, and following graduate school.
We found that many students thought about getting a graduate degree prior to even entering
undergraduate school. They perceived value in obtaining an advanced degree and believed
it would lead to increased income benefits. Yet this perceived value is tied to insufficient
information about viable careers. Only about one-third of students felt they received sufficient
information to understand career options prior to entering graduate school.
