However, careful observation of school English teaching practice has found that the teaching of listening skills is still
the weak link in the language teaching process. Despite students having mastered the basic elements of English
grammar and vocabulary, their listening comprehension is often weak. Through systematic study of basic English
teaching stages at university, it has been recognized that while students’ integrated skills in reading, writing and
translating, have been improving, their listening and speaking capabilities have been left behind. The key factor that has
been recognized in the preliminary studies is students’ limited listening comprehension.
