Overview and introduction to Unit #1

In this first Unit, we’ll tackle some very common misconceptions about who archaeologists are and what they do, as a way to start figuring out just what archaeology actually is. One or two ‘archaeological secrets’ will be shared, and quite a few key terms in the field presented. Finally, you will be introduced to a fundamental proposition of this course: that archaeology, far from being an isolated, inconsequential academic pursuit, is instead an active and collaborative process with very serious ‘real world’ implications.
