Feedback from students regarding the group project in our
undergraduate community health nursing course suggests that
working in teams, while challenging, may be a viable strategy for
preparing the next generation of nurses for collaboration. Indeed,
our findings support the call by Mennenga and Smyer (2010) to
incorporate team-based learning into nursing education as a means
of enriching the learning environment. Our students demonstrated
willingness to work together, gather salient information about
a public health issue, learn about available resources, and devise
a feasible plan for evidence-based intervention.
