In this work, Bamboo fabric and PLA resin were used to fabricate fully biodegradable ‘green’ laminate, an attractive combination of mechanical and physical properties together with their environmental friendly character.
In terms of mechanical properties, the laminated direction-2 presented excellent energy absorption capabilities and advantage for engineering applications. In the design ballistic amour systems the potential of this kind of laminate could be an attractive future studied.
The fabric characterization showed that the plain woven bamboo fabric presented higher breaking force in the transverse direction, as compared to the axial direction. In reference to the characterization of the laminate was observed that tensile, flexure and impact properties of PLA increased when direction 2 bamboo fabric reinforcement is used. Also, the composite showed good bonding between Bamboo fiber and PLA resin.
