The dispersal route of the invasive red fin dwarf pleco (P. maculicauda) can be inferred from
the samples collected between July 1994 and September 2009. After being recorded for the first
time at a site in the medium sector of the stream (site 5), P. maculicauda dispersed upstream to
colonise new sites. By the end of the study, the species was found at five sites, indicating a high
dispersal capacity, an important ability for an invasive species
