With careful planning and a proper routine maintenance, green wall systems require minimal small fixings and therefore it pose minimal risk to building façade. With careful and correct plant selections, choosing plants that will not damage the façade and also will not attract unwanted insects like termite may be used with confidence on existing or new buildings. It is also proven to be beneficial in recent vertical farming techniques which involve vertical planting of vegetation demonstrating alternative advantages of green wall systems. With careful planning, growing crops on a large building structure or façade would become a vertical ‘farmscape’. Applying this technique with a careful design and well planning on a large residential building facade, this vertical ‘farmscape’ may become the future self sustainable system to provide varieties of fruits and vegetables to the residents [16].
