I tend to gravitate towards the Rococo period (and the Neoclassical that happened just after). France was really striving to achieve grandeur at the time.
Clodion would often work in terracotta, emulating the Baroque period’s imagery of Greek & Roman art alike all Rococo artists. His success as an artist relied on the fame and profits from these small sculptures.
I also adore his perfectly balanced Satyr and Nymph.
