Although principles of rose oil have been widely investigated for their usefulness as perfumes (Ohloff and Demole, 1987), the pharmacological activities of rose ingredients are not very well understood. Recently, we demonstrated that extracts of white flowers from Rosa hybrida and Rosa rugosa showed anti-allergic effects in in vitro cell
culture systems, as well as in in vivo systemic and local hypersensitivity models, including atopic dermatitis (Jeon et al., 2008, 2009;Kwon et al., 2008).
